Orbital Consciousness

I took this photo during a spectacular summer night, where common Iowa fireflies were in such abundance that they were actually synchronizing in the trees. I composed the shot using a wide-angle lens centered on the North Star to capture the celestial rotation. Although I captured thousands of frames for the stack, clouds moved in, so this final image represents just a couple of hours of exposure.
