I took this photo in Georgia after hiking to a small stream, where I positioned my tripod just above the surface of a reflecting pool. As twilight faded, the first fireflies began to flash. Soon, dozens of them were pulsing in synchrony, their lights shimmering in the water. The resulting long exposure, which took several minutes to capture, reminded me of the book 2001: A Space Odyssey and its famous line: 'My God, it’s full of stars!'
